ScienceDirect Saving PDFs problem
Posted: May 7th, 2012

Problems have been reported with saving PDFs on ScienceDirect when using either Firefox or Internet Explorer 8 and Adobe X and with other versions. They recommend the following workarounds:

In the Science Direct website you can save the file directly to your desktop. This can be done from the abstract screen of the article you wish to download. You will need to go to the ‘PDF’ tab and ‘right click’ on the tab generally on the PDF icon within that tab. Once you right click you will have opened a drop down menu that will have the option to ‘save link as’ or ‘save target as’ depending on what browser you are using. This will then prompt you to save the article to a common file on your hard drive. After you click save from the window that opens you can then go back the file and open the PDF you have saved.
