System Upgrade – EBSCOhost

Last update on: |

Over the next few weeks EBSCO will be performing an important upgrade to their results page infrastructure for EBSCOhost. During this time, and under certain circumstances, you may see the following message when attempting to read an article:

This item cannot be opened in a new tab. To view it, return to search results and select the link there.

The message will display when a user right-clicks to open an article from the results page to open it in a new tab, rather than clicking to read the article from the original browser.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

EBSCO eBooks problem in Firefox 45.0

Last update on: |

There continues to be a service issue with EBSCO eBooks where PDFs were not loading when using Firefox 45.0. EPUB format is not affected and downloading still functions properly.

EBSCO is working to fully resolve this issue as soon as possible and, in the meantime, they have implemented a fix that has restored access to eBook PDFs in Firefox. A byproduct of this fix is loss of page-to-page vertical scrolling for eBooks in Firefox, though all other navigation options remain available: table of contents links, page back and forward arrows, and entering a page number into the page number box.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will update the service issue as soon as a resolution has been made available.

Chrome Browser Issues for Some GPO Websites

Last update on: |

The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) is aware of an issue with accessing some GPO websites when using the Chrome web browser.

We are working to correct the issue, and in the meantime, we recommend using Mozilla’s Firefox or Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

Sites that may be impacted are:

  • Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP)
  • MetaLib
  • Federal Depository Library Directory
  • Permanent, where many of the CGP PURLs resolve
  • Ben’s Guide to the U.S. Government

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
