UB STUDENT AFFAIRS – UB Student Affairs is pleased to announce the opening of a new Veteran Services office designed to support the needs of UB student veterans.

UB currently has several hundred students who recently served or are actively serving in the armed services. The newly formed office will be headed by Dan Ryan, PhD, and will be located at 101 Allen Hall on UB’s South Campus.

In his role, Ryan will lead UB’s collective efforts to celebrate the accomplishments of our veteran students and provide the services to enable their academic success here at UB.

”The mission of the department will be to ease the transition of veterans and help them balance college life with their military, career, family and personal goals,” says Ryan. “UB’s Veteran Services office will be a comfortable place where student veterans can get support on veterans’ benefits, academic policies and on- and off-campus resources to meet their unique needs.”

Ryan will lead a Veterans Services Committee that will include representatives from UB’s offices of Veterans Affairs, Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Admissions, Campus Living, New Student Programs, Wellness Education, Counseling Services, Accessibility Resources, Career Services, Special Events, and Student Life, as well as interested representatives from other decanal units. He will also convene an advisory panel for students who will assist in the assessment and planning of services for student veterans.

In addition to his new duties, Ryan will continue in his role as Director of Off-Campus Student Services.
