Abstract: The collection consists mainly of news releases connected with Maud Andrews, material related to the naming and dedication of Andrews Hall, word games (for which Miss Andrews exhibited a fondness), an engaging collection of student bloopers assembled by Miss Andrews over a period of years, and assorted diplomas and certificates. Also included in the collection are a series of eight volumes of text, photographs, and postcards compiled by William H. Hayward of Cleveland, Ohio, and uncle of Maud Andrews. Three are detailed journals, illustrated with photographs, of travels to Europe, the “Orient,” and New England. The remainder are collections of postcards and photographs.

Abstract: Of greatest interest in this collection is the 1901-1903 correspondence, which offers insights into the social life, employment opportunities, working conditions, and relations between the sexes early in the century. In his letters, Glenn enclosed some of his own poems. These compositions, while sentimental, reflect an ability to handle the English language, unusual for someone with limited formal education.

Abstract: Mrs. Crandall had a deep and abiding interest in Chautauqua County local history. She spent a great deal of time transcribing cemetery records in the town of Poland; accumulating information on past and present town of Poland residents, including war veterans; and typing and indexing official town records, including those for the town board and the highway department. Vernon R. Crandall allowed Reed Library's Special Collections staff to make xerographic copies of Mrs. Crandall's abstracts and scrapbooks. The box listing provides the titles of the various notebooks that were copied on acid free paper in 1991-1992.

Abstract: The Ellery Baptist Church was established in 1817. Two church buildings were constructed in Ellery Center, the second of which, with alterations, is still serving the congregation. The records consist of the official church minutes in three volumes, 1813-1963. Also included is church correspondence, 1820-1977; business papers, 1858-1918; church history, 1817-1917; church papers, 1817-1918; and transfer letters, 1820-1903.
