Abstract: The collection contains
letters, photographs and clippings, pertaining to the dedication of Lockwood
Memorial Library and the production of a catalog for the occasion. The
collection also includes Lockwood family memorabilia consisting of scrapbooks,
diaries, guestbooks, correspondence, photographs, programs and
menus.

The bulk of the material in the collection was transferred to the
University Archives by the Libraries' Director's Office in 1969.

Thomas B. Lockwood, a prominent businessman and rare books collector,
was the son of Daniel N. Lockwood, a corporation lawyer, District Attorney, and
Congressional Representative. (See the Buffalo Historical Society's
Contemporary Biography of Western New York
Vol. 4 1885.) Thomas B. Lockwood was defeated for the office of lieutenant
governor in 1910; he had sought the gubernatorial nomination. Very active in
civic affairs, he was a member of the Administrative Committee of the
University of Buffalo Council from 1919-1947.
The collection contains letters, photographs and clippings,
pertaining to the dedication of Lockwood Memorial Library and the production of
a catalog for the occasion, with an introduction by Charles D. Abbott, Director
of the Libraries, 1934-1960 (See Charles Abbott Papers). The Lockwood family
memorabilia includes scrapbooks, diaries, guestbooks, correspondence,
photographs, programs and menus.
Physical form determines the arrangement.

II.Bound volumes, such as guest books, notebooks, and some unbound
papers;
III.Personal Scrapbooks and Memorabilia contains personal scrapbooks,
photographs, clippings and related memorabilia; Oversized folders are located
