Acquisition Information
Accession 00-xxx, a group of materials from the Buffalo Foundation,
was received by the Archives June 27, 1968.
Note: The following two reports were not part
of this accession:
Neighborhood House Study- Oak Street (1931 and 1934); given to
Neighborhood House for historical use on 3/22/63.
Westminster House (December 1930); given by the Foundation to the
agency for historical use, and not included in this accession.

No further accruals are expected to this collection.
The Buffalo Foundation was established in 1919 under a Resolution and
Declaration of Trust drafted by the late
Edward H. Letchworth and is similar in
organization and purpose to other philanthropic community trust funds in the
United States patterned after the Cleveland Foundation.
This collection includes typescript research reports, 1921-1938, of
the Buffalo Foundation, concerning community welfare in Buffalo and Erie
County, New York, and the
Foundation Forum,, 1921-1947,
a publication of the Buffalo Foundation. Subjects of the reports include the
activities of local welfare and service organizations, including the
Babcock Street Community House, the
Buffalo Orphan Asylum,
Camp Fire Girls,
Children's Aid Society,
Friendship House,
Salvation Army, and the
Visiting Nursing Association; studies of social
issues including child welfare, juvenile delinquency, hospitals, housing,
recreational facilities, and other issues.
This collection is arranged alphabetically by title.
