Archival and Manuscript Collections
Finding Aids are guides to archival records, personal papers, or manuscripts. They describe a collection’s origins, contents, and organization in more detail than the library catalog describes books. They are tools to help researchers determine if a collection contains useful information and where that information is located.
This Finding Aids Database searches archival collections across the University Libraries and other regional institutions. It contains only those Finding Aids that have been converted to EAD (machine readable Encoded Archival Description) – an on-going project.
The UB Libraries’ Catalog may also be used to locate collections that have been processed but whose finding aids have not yet been converted to EAD.
